Mark Twain never said, “The coldest winter I ever spent, was the summer in San Francisco” – Apparantly its a myth that’s acredited to Twain. (or so says wikipedia) I can’t tell you who originally said it, but I can tell you they were speaking the truth. San Francisco summers are crazy cold. So cold, you have to wear socks to bed. – Thank goodness for Zkano.
Although my husband cringes when I wear socks to bed, at least we can both agree they are stylish socks. Not only are Zkano stylish, they’re also made in the USA! – Something that helps us both sleep at night.
When USA Love List asked if we’d help them out with a promo for their giveaway for Zkano socks I jumped at the opportunity. I love Zkano socks! I bought an assorted 3 pack last winter, which instantly became my go-to socks. I would do laundry specifically for the socks. I washed them so much, you would think the Zkano socks wear down over time. That wasn’t the case. In fact, the socks held up remarkably!
I know you’re thinking, “why didn’t she get more socks than just the 3 pair?” – I did! I got more. These socks are for the sock lover. So cushy soft. The elastic is strong but not restricting. The styles are fun, but not alarmingly obnoxious. – I could go on…
Its not only the quality of the socks that I adore, its the philosophy and the history of the company that I find to be most amazing. Zkano is a company that is doing right by American made.
Gina Locklear, the owner of Zkano, saw the potential in the company that her parents built. She didn’t want their hard work and efforts go to waste. She feared that it would fall the same doom that all of the other local mills faced. She took it over and kept at it.
“At one time Fort Payne, Alabama was known as the sock capital of the world. One out of every eight socks manufactured globally was made in our small town. There were over 300 sock mills here, that employed over half the town. Once the trend of outsourcing happened, they killed the industry here, and mill by mill began to close. Fortunately we’re still here. We’re about one of seven mills that are still operating today.”
At Zkano, everything is done in house; from manufacturing to seaming, to fulfilling orders. All made in the USA – even down to their dyed yarns. “We’re constantly able to monitor our quality levels. We’re able to offer a much higher quality sock because our manufacturing are just a few steps away from our offices.” says Locklear.
I for one, am so happy that Zkano kept at it and is part of the Made in the USA movement. And you can be too! Take part in the giveaway from USA Love List to get your own hands (um feet…) on a few pairs of Zkanos. Did I mention its a $50 giveaway?! Oh yeah! Enter it now. Giveaway ends Sept 5th. – But even if you don’t win, still check out Zkano and show your feet some love.
